Citizenship

A socially-conscious life is a badge of honor for any person living in this great country.   A commitment to serve God and play a part in the community starts early in life and is nurtured by our staff and curriculum.   Charitable contributions and a genuine concern for others are important qualities that are part of our students’ mission in life.   These honorable virtues are both taught and rewarded in our R4 program.   We are committed to graduating socially conscious contributors to society, and young adults who value the role of others in their lives and the rewards of helping others.

It is very easy to go through life reaping the benefits of the charitable work of others.   Tax-paying citizens, generous donations to parks and recreational areas and philanthropists’ efforts are enormous contributors to the common good. We all enjoy the benefit of their generosity every day with beautified public areas and needy individuals getting the help they need.   But even with limited time and means, we can all make a difference.   Unfortunately, most do not volunteer to help others or make a difference in their community and the world around them.   A selfish agenda is the norm, and those virtuous individuals who care to the point of significant self-sacrifice make everyone’s world a better place. Today, more than ever, we must focus our youth on the value of citizenship and serving others.   Doing our part and contributing to community and beyond is not just our civic duty, but our obligation as caring human beings.   Helping those less fortunate brings forward a spirit of pride and satisfaction that is hard to find any other way.

A model citizen includes being an obedient and dutiful person.   Following the rules and offering common courtesy to others and society norms are fundamental obligations for all.   Being a good citizen and being socially conscious is the principal dynamic creating a great community.   Doing our part starts with the smallest acts of kindness to others and can lead to grand benevolent acts of service.   They all matter, but none more than being aware of what you can do to be kind to others, a good friend and to be willing to help a neighbor or friend in need.

The Key Virtues Of A Model Citizen

Compassionate

Compassion is an important part of citizenship because empathy for others is ultimately at the core of citizenship. Many of our fellow citizens find themselves in hard times and are in need of help of various kinds.   Being compassionate to their dilemma and offering a helping hand is one of life’s most fulfilling acts and something every citizen should endeavor to incorporate into their life in some way.

Respectful

Respect for others is a cornerstone for a great citizen. Caring for others and treating them with dignity and concern brings us closer as a society, and ultimately turns strangers into friends.   Respect for the laws and rules established for our welfare are equally important and helps to make us a model citizen.

Responsible

Responsibility where citizenship is concerned has incredible depth and breadth. Responsibility for caring for our environment, our community and our friends is also a core virtue of being a good citizen and bettering our community and our world.

Honest

Finding and returning a lost item, doing the right thing or simply telling the truth are all equally fundamental elements of citizenship.

A valuable part of a group

Contributing to the common good is basically the defining element of citizenship.   Working with others and supporting the efforts of those trying to help will accomplish any goal set forth.   Doing your part is a must and should be a goal of every citizen

Contact us at the R4Initiative to implement the program at your school.

The R4 was a solution to our enrollment problem and gave us a long-needed image update. But the reaction of parents to the program was inspiring. Parents want their children to be prepared for life ahead and to prosper. I really feel the our involvement in the R4 initiative helps us deliver exactly that.
